We strongly recommend you do NOT use SatNav unless it recognises the co-ordinates above. The postcode covers a very wide area and even the French tax authorities don’t recognise our address. Five of our guests over the years have got seriously lost using SatNav. Nobody has ever got lost following these written directions!

From Cherbourg:

When you emerge from the ferry terminal, go straight over the roundabout, following green signs to Rennes and Caen. Follow this road for about 10 minutes, even though it seems to be taking you back into Cherbourg. Keep following the same signs and eventually you will find yourself on the dual carriageway heading South.

After a further 15 minutes (Valognes by-pass really), turn off to Coutances (quite a minor turn-off, easily missed). When you get to Coutances (about 45 minutes):

a) ignore the bypass; it takes you miles out of your way. Aim straight for the centre, and turn right towards Granville when you have to stop at traffic lights. NB The traffic lights are very sensibly switched off at night. You’re more or less out of the centre already. Beware the funny lane arrangements at one point: you have to get in the left-hand lane to go straight on. Watch the markings on the ground.

b) as you begin to emerge from Coutances (bottom of the hill), you hit two roundabouts. At the second one, go left at the roundabout, to go under the viaduct you’ll see on your left, towards Gavray (also Blue motorway sign).

Bash on about 3 or 4 miles down a mostly straight road, and eventually you will see signs to St Denis le Vetu. Turn left to St Denis. Straight over the crossroads (passing the wonderful La Baratte restaurant) and then right and follow your nose to Gu?h?bert (about 3 miles). BEWARE: PRIORITE A  DROITE is a serious business round here. If you don’t clearly have priority, then cars will shoot out from side-roads (from your right), assuming you know about Priorite a droite. Bash on until you hit Guehebert and the church. At the church, go straight over and drive up on the right-hand side of it (cul-de-sac sign). When the road changes from quite new to very new, you will soon see our letter-box and, indeed, namepost. Park in our car-park area.

From Caen:

From the ferry terminal, follow the signs to Caen itself (the terminal is actually at Ouistreham, not Caen). At the ring road (Peripherique), follow the signs to the motorway (A84) and Rennes. Follow the motorway to Junction 39 (Tessy-sur-Vire). At Tessy-sur-Vire (about 4 miles), turn left and drive through Villebaudon and Hambye. Soon after Hambye, you will come to St Denis-le-Gast. At St Denis-le-Gast, turn right at the Church. After 200 yards, the road bends to the right, but you go more or less straight on (ie turning left off the main road by the cemetery gates. Bash on until you pass the Bar de l’etang on your right. Another 200 yards and you’ll see a sign to Guehebert. Follow that for 5 mins (but beware of PRIORITE A DROITE  (see above). At the church, turn left and immediately left again up an unmarked lane (except for a cul-de-sac sign) on the other side of the church for a couple of minutes. When the road changes from quite new to very new, you will soon see our letter-box and, indeed, namepost. Park in our car-park area. From Le Havre or Calais: head for Caen, then as above. Tip for Le Havre: keep in the left-hand lane and use every underpass (ignore the signs which suggest you should go through all the traffic lights).

From St Malo/ Dinard airport:

It’s quite tricky getting out of St Malo, so keep these notes handy! From the terminal, follow the signs: first Toutes Directions, then Rennes, then Rennes/ Caen/ Dinard.
Turn off to Rennes and Dinan (not straight on to Dinard). Once you get on to the road South to Rennes (dual-carriageway), carry on for about 10 – 15 minutes. At the double turn-off, take the lane to Caen & Mont St Michel. Once you’re on the road (N176) to Mont St Michel (you don?t actually go to Mont St Michel itself) just keep going until you find yourself skirting Avranches. Soon after the turning off to Granville, you turn off on the minor road D7 to La Haye Pesnel and Coutances. Keep going absolutely straight on until you come to Gavray (half an hour).

At Gavray, follow the road left over the river. After 200 yards you will see the main square (not the tiddly one); immediately, turn right to St Denis-le-G. (and the brown Andouillerie sign). At St Denis le-Gast (10 mins), go left then right, ie as straight on as you can. After 200 yards, the road bends to the right, but you go more or less straight on (ie turning left off the main road by the cemetery gates).

From Dinard airport: this really should be called St Malo airport, so the directions are as above except: from the airport, turn right at the end of the lane, then right at the roundabout. Follow the signs to Mont St Michel, and then as above.
